I plow through the snow with a mountain bike 3 times a week. I dont keep track of miles due to the contrasting nature of the ride. Each ride is somewhere around 45min to an hour. Winter riding up here is intense right now. Add 15lbs to the bike, 10lbs extra clothing, squishy tires and snow wrestles against me every ride. This is true, mileage is not the only indicator. I use map my ride and although it does account for calories in different types of riding, I don't think you can set for weather or difficulty. It shows elevation changes, but not sure that is taken into account.
I have tracked road and fixed, fixed runs about 1/3 or more higher in calorie burn vs. road because you never stop pedaling and of course only one gear. I haven't tried on mountain bike, but imagine it has to at least take the larger tires and weight into account.
