This is a problem too. I live about 200 yards from the Savannah River. I have not been swimming in the river, but I can swim. Well, there is the gator thing but that is not what really keeps me from swimming in the river, I just haven't done it yet and I don't have someone dependable with a kayak to go with me. We do get to wear a wet suit and go downstream. while I was researching online I found a youtube about the speed required to stay ahead of the sag wagon is about the same speed a bag of potato chips floats down the river. So I just have to not drown. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...0424&FORM=VIRE

I was amazed when going to my first Tri at the number of participants that needed help getting out of the water.
