This reminded me of a misadjusted front derailleur. It used to stick out in the big ring just enough to allow the right crank arm to come in contact with it. Could also try cleaning and lubing the chainring bolts assuming that the LBS did this properly to the BB. If you think its still the BB, then remove, clean, lube and reinstall it as well. Don't feel too bad. I deal with this often since I also ride in the rain. Most of creaks and clicks for me are in the stem and handlebar, BB and seatpost binder bolt.
