Why? --- get decent tires --- a suspension fork will not make you faster, better looking or more sweet smelling on a bike of that vintage

DEcent tires and making sure the shifters and brakes are tuned properly will though ---- consult your local "enthusiast level" bike shop for more help

The type of shop that will address your issues and not automatically try to steer you towards some new budget grade piece of junk on the floor
