Hmm...depends on the shop. Some shops will not like the fact you are bringing in parts for them to add to the bike that you didn't buy from them. Buy as much as you can from them and only buy online or elsewhere if the deal is INCREDIBLE. Also the only bighit frame you can buy is the DH so you may have to talk to a few shops to see if they will split one off for ya.

90% of the stuff on a bike is easy you just need the tools. There are only a few things I get a shop to do now and thats because of a lack of tools. Wheelbilding, headset pressing and cutting the steerer on my fork to fit the bike. Everything else I can more or less handle.

Good luck it is worthwhile...
