I had an acetabular fracture on my left hip . . . so basically, my femur punched a hole through the socket of the hip. Worst pain I've ever experienced in my life.
I was completely non-weight-bearing on my left side for three months, for the purpose of avoiding surgery. My ortho doc told me to put absolutely no pressure whatsoever on my leg, so I couldn't even spin. I followed his advice, didn't have to have surgery, and I've completely recovered. So, my advice is to follow your doctor's advice explicitly, no matter how much you want to work out or spin or do whatever.
