Maybe I just have bad luck but my Alivio rear derailleur only lasted 1000 miles. The spring got weak and they aren't repairable. I got a good deal on a Deore LX ($29) and it still works good 3000 miles later. The Alivio shifters work fine. Any replacement parts I put on an MTB bike will be Deore or better and it seems LX is a pretty good value.
