A single-speed has a freewheel, a fixed-gear doesn't. The tensioner indicates a single-speed, since if one tried to ride it fixed, one couldn't brake by applying back-pressure on the pedals. The chain would come off pretty quick. No harm, no foul. As to the dig at Specialized above, everyone has their own grail bikes; and that's as it should be. Please note, there was no assertion about "revered as a classic."
OK. I noticed the name of the foum is CLASSIC and vintage. just wondered if Specialized was as revered as Pinerello, etc
