I've heard nothing but good things about the Enlightened Equipment quilts. There's one on my wish list.

I cannot imagine using a 60 degree blanket in anything but summer, late spring, or early fall in New York. And I can easily imagine nights where even then that might not be warm enough.

But I don't actually have experience with either of them. I just used to camp with a 60 degree bag, and I found it useful primarily when it was warm enough that I barely needed insulation. You could supplement it with other layers, which is what I did, but eventually you've packed enough layers that you might as well have packed a real, camping quilt, which would have taken up less space. That's why for top insulation I'm now planning on a CoolMax travel sheet and a Prodigy quilt for either 30 or 40 degrees. I can always vent the quilt if it's too warm, or just use the travel sheet, but finding out you don't have enough insulation to sleep warm is miserable.
