Welcome to Bike Forums!!

I think your new Wellington will be just fine for a bike to start out with. You don't want to go all out on your first one because you really won't know your needs until you've gotten used to riding a regular bike again. It takes time! And after a while, you will begin to know your needs.

You're going to do just fine.

As recommended, you might want to pop into the Clydes section. There you will find a lot of people who can help guide you to getting started.

Congrats on your new bike!!
