Wider tire + lower psi = more comfortable ride. And forget the Marathons. Not a comfortable tire by any means. Get something like Panaracer Pasela. Supple sidewalls make for a comfortable ride. They're fast, offer good flat protection, and are 1/4 the price of the Marathons.
