White Velox bar tape

Should I shellac it or leave it bare? I just made a pilgrimage up to SF and stopped by American Cyclery. Picked up a nice Bianchi cycling cap for a mere $8, and found the holy grail of track cycling: white cotton tape. Velox, none the less. So, I bought it, and am waiting to tape up the bars. Standard non-ergo bend road bars, currently running virgin black tape. I wear gloves mostly, and could make it a regular thing to keep the white clean. So, what do you think would be best?
