My buddy has the Flare R, and honestly I don't know why anyone would need something brighter. I can see him from a mile away with that thing. I imagine any brighter would be annoying for other cyclists and drivers alike.
Most of my riding is solo so this is not an issue. Also, you can set three different levels of brightness as well as multiple different configurations at the chosen level of brightness. The variable strobe seems the brightest, most noticeable one to me. Outside of being extra bright, the company puts out a very high quality product and has superior customer service.
