New to us Tandem

My wife and I picked up a new to us 2008 Santana Sovereign Aluminum frame. I can hardly believe we found it in one of our local bike shops. Actually it was my sister who found it for us. She and my brother in-law have been biking since the early 2000's and bought their Sovereign in 07. They made a Seattle to Boston ride and then 2 years ago from Corpus Christi Texas to the Canadian border then made it within 145 miles from home before their rear wheel disintegrated. They have logged almost 40,000 miles on that thing, not bad for a couple in their late 50's. We however do not have such aspirations and plan to just ride locally. We bought it in July and have done around 500 miles, not bad for a couple of rookies in our early 50's.
