Cavendish claimed he took a wrong line and got boxed in, otherwise he would have won because in his own words, "I was faster." Watching the finish replay overhead I don't think Cavendish was faster. It was an slight uphill sprint which would have given the advantage to Sagan anyway. You don't lose a big sprint like this and blame it on the wheel you chose. 65% of winning a sprint is being in the right position and timing the right move, the other 45% is speed. If you make the wrong choice man up and simply say Peter was the best sprinter today instead of implying he was lucky because I was faster. I don't think Cavendish's comments would have bothered me that much if he hadn't had looked back at Matthews and raised his hand at him in disgust as if Matthews had no right to be there. But nothing new. Cavendish is usually bitter when he loses.
