Rode a distance today to give a friend an MTB bar and stem. On the way home I saw a Speciallized Rock Hopper set out by the curb and leaning against a metal shelving unit. I knocked on the door of the house and asked the owner if the bicycle was out for garbage. He said yes it was and that they had lost the key to the CCM U-lock that through the frame and rear wheel. I took the bike home. I spent two minutes with a Dremel tool and thick cut-off disc and had the lock off. All the bicycle needed was air in the tires.
It's a 21-speed Alivio equipped bicycle and everything works fine. It has double butted tubing and another sticker that says Designed in California and made in Taiwan. His wife had lost interest in bicycling and the bicycle sat for years. After i pumped up the tires I took the bicycle for a ride and everything on it works well and the shifting needs no adjusting at all. Sometimes you just get really lucky.
Here are ten images of the bicycle as it looked when it wqas given to me other than me putting the air in the tires prior to taking the images of it.
Cheers
