You can easily do the work yourself. Installing a Shimano Hollow Tech 2 crank into a threaded bottom bracket is one of the easiest things you can do. It will literally take like 5 minutes to do, even with no experience.

All you need to do is use a preload cap removal tool to remove the cap on the left crank arm, then a hex wrench to remove the pinch bolts on the left crank arm. Take a mallet and tap the spindle and right crank/chainring out.

To install the new threaded bottom bracket, you just need the spline tool to tighten the bottom bracket cups. To install the crank into the BB, it's basically the same thing as removal, just in reverse.

This tool, plus the bottom bracket is all you need.
Yes, I was planning on installing the bottom bracket and crank. As mentioned, I ask the LBS a few questions and received a misinformed response.
