i also do all my own maintenance, aside from pressing in bottom bracket bearings, and truing rims. i love working on my bikes, always have from when i was a teenager. i learned a long time ago if youre out on your own riding you must know how to fix just about everything on your bike. im not much of a rider in groups, i like to go solo. so knowing how it works and gets fixed is a must.
i build almost all of my bikes from the ground up. my current GT grade i got from Performance Bike, but even then i stripped it to the frame to make sure all bolts are to spec. and to change out parts and get it set up as i like. i was going to build a cross bike from the frame up, like my LS C1R, but got a great deal on the GT so i got it. great bike also. cant wait for the Etap HDR to come out next year ill be adding that for sure.
