I used zwift a lot last winter rehabbing a dislocated shoulder. For structured workouts, it's pretty useless and just becomes background noise. For just riding around because the weather outside is gross, it's fun and engaging. I haven't used it this year, but have heard that the group ride component is more organized and user friendly than last year.
