Why upright bars for a 14-mile/day commute? If I had a SS, I would probably swap in an aluminum crankset and replace the TwinStik levers with SunTour barcons, delete the pie plate spoke protector, install KoolStop salmon brake pads, and leave everything else alone, unless I also got a good deal on a SunTour rear derailleur.
