I think (may not be correct, no experience with this) that NYS has a ZERO tolerance law for underage drinking. If you are underage and caught with ANY alcohol in your system, not only are you in trouble with the law, but so is the person(s) responsible. If you were drinking at someone's house (even without their knowledge and consent), they too will be charged with violations of the law.

Most alcoholics started out drinking at young ages, so awareness might help with legal issues later on in life.
