Knocking the old bridge down the gulch will have a severe impact on the wildlife below. It is not just a matter of picking up the old steel and cement chunks after the bridge is demolished.
That's kinda what I was thinking. I have seen a few highway overpasses in the process of going down around me, they dismantle them piece by piece on weekend nights with the highway shutdown or traffic diverted through the off/on ramps.
