The most "serious" cyclist I know ($400 shoes, y'all) has logged 300 miles in 2017.
I don't reckon myself a serious cyclist at all, but still manage to get a couple hours a week in on the trainer, with my broken right hand in a cast. As soon as it will bear weight, I'll be back on the road, still in the cast. I ride because I love it. It is a wholly un-serious pursuit for me.
