While enthusiasts may have no problem dropping $500-$1000 on a brand new bike, and then another $200-$400 the next day to take off brand new parts and replace with other brand new parts, your average recreational buyer would likely be way happier finding a bike with all of the components to their liking to start with and saving the hassle and extra cost of rebuilding a brand new bike.
