That being said, if you are a junior, or U23 you can get a lot of power gains in the weight room/gym. Likely more than what you could get by riding alone.
W/kg is less important on the track than pure watts - you likely know that.
And I'm going to guess on Watts.
Training you want to go less time and more power. So if you need ~600 for about 1min/1k for the race, I'd look at intervals in the 1,000W range. Distance and time is less important than the power.
Thanks. I'll give it a look. Im in the weight room squatting about 3 -4 days of the week, rep ranges of 8-14 with moderate weight. Then on the bike after the gym. I've tried to transfer my power and seen some progress.
