I wouldn't really call it stupid...as you grow older and more mature, you will realize that everything has purpose. Sure, you have valid points, but not enough to call it stupid. Like for instance the weight of 2.5 kilos. Does your tent, pad and sleeping bag weight less than that combined? If it does, would you also say that is stupid to carry around unnecessary weight? I don't think the maker is stupid either, laughing all the way to the bank.
