time consuming? cutting corners? in a hurry? i dunno, i just think that is kinda stupid, unless after all that jumping on pedals you plan on taking the wheel off and tightening the lockring again anyways...i actually saw a shop owner do it that way. I went in on a whim, saw they had a khs, went to test ride it. before i got literally 2 revolutions away, the cog slipped. i brought it back in and told the guy that he should probably not let anyone else testride it until he fixed that...he asked me to hold the bike and proceeded to jump on the pedals. i left before i could find out if he did anything to the lockring. i doubt it.
