I forgot about Bicycle Heaven. If anyone asks me why I'm riding to Pittsburgh I have the obvious answer!
Yes, the roll-on service is booked from Union Station in DC both Friday and Saturday, but available for the return from Cumberland. I think it's because more people want to ride from somewhere and return home by bike so they don't have a fixed schedule. Or perhaps they think it is more downhill, when in reality it makes almost no difference which way you ride because it is 99.9% flat. The time works out fine for me, with a 9:30 am return train arriving back home midday.
