maybe the experts can help with this....

q-factor is the distance between the pedals, right?
so there's a couple ways to change the Q! while keeping
the pedals and cranks.

1. you can add some pedal extenders...i think they might be
called knee-savers or some such.

2. you can use a different length spindle bottom bracket, which
may or may not be compatible with your front derailler....
(remember, me not expert!)

plenty of options with square taper. i think shimano has various
spindles ranging from 103-126mm. other brands maybe more.....
