If I understand correctly, Pic number two shows the hitch mount, and you took the picture to show the conflicts.

Why don't you just put the hitch plate in a vise and put a bend in it so that the hose connector is farther away from the shift box, while keeping the plate flat around the axle QR area.

Alternatively, could the trailer tongue be reversed on the trailer so as it connects to the drive side of the bike , and therefore mount the hitch plate on that side?
