You mentioned 'safe' multiple times. Is a path safer than the road? Is a path still a 'road route' to you?

Anyway, I thought this route that maximizes riding on paths:

would be a lot longer, but relative to the all street route above it's not too bad, really. There's a half mile @ the 9 mile point on the streets, miles 13-17, 25-33 and 38-44 are on the streets, but otherwise it's on a series of paths. Uh, some of the streets are multi-lane thoroughfares sans shoulders and with 40mph+ speed limits.

In another month or six the 'signature' path bridge over Mockingbird Ave. (ten years in the making!) will be complete. About four miles could be cut by going straight into DT Fort Worth on 3rd.
