I have to think about that some. I usually walk the bike by holding onto the seat. Rarely the bars. I never bump into the pedals, although I'm almost always walking on the left of my bike, and regularly bump into the trailer tongue as I'm pushing the bike + trailer uphill.

Without the trailer, I have, on occasion walked behind the bike.

Anyway, I think the pedals are often either to my side, or slightly in front of me.
