wide doubles, common, 50, 34, uncommon, 46, 30.
Used a 50,40,24 for many years/tours.. was 13~34t freewheels for the most part.. CX being a wider 700c wheel that was similar,
though for touring weight , they were heavier wheels..
now have internal gear hubs , potentially mix with double chainsets to extend the range wider if you choose..
Nexus 8 speed IGH work well not too expensive..
Trekking bars work well with grip shifters made for MTB bars (22.2mm tube)
