Thanks for the link, looks like I already found most everything that's mentioned in that thread.
It's kinda surprising that that is in a 50+ thread, as I feel like people of all ages could benefit from gears smaller than 50 teeth.
I do love all those shiny Compass/Velo Orange/IRD cranks but they would just look too ridiculous on my bike. Someday when I have the money to build up a Rivendell I'll buy some.
