Check out Ride Bikes on St. Andrews Blvd, W. Ashley. They have a local group ride on Thursday nights - with beer afterward! I've led tours in the Charleston area before, and would take them down Bears' Bluff Road to the distillery where they make Firefly vodka, then cut over towards Rockville. The main road can be a bit scary. Also, if you don't mind travling a few miles, head south on Hwy 17. After Jacksonboro, and after you cross over the Ashepoo River, turn onto Bennet's Point Rd. Park your car and do the out and back on Bennett's Pt. Yeah , I know....it's an out and back, BUT, it's absolutley gorgeous. You pass ancient plantation entrances, its in the heart of the ACE Basin, and goes through two wildlife refuges. It's about 15+ miles long, and goes through old rice fields. Definitely local flavor.
