My guess is the "correction" would make up for the increased blade length of the suspension fork. I've got a '92 Specialized Crossroads fork around here somewhere in your color that I'd sell for $35 shipped. Since the Crossroads came with 29er/700c wheels & tires, the fork blades are longer than those made for 26" wheels. That may be just the ticket for giving you something close to the correct geometry. EDIT: Just remembered the canti bosses wouldn't line up with your 26" rims. Of course, you could use 29" wheels & tires up front and 26" in back, but you may not want that dirt bike look.
