People like Richard Petty and Michael Jordon come to mind - gentlemen, never clownish or cartoonish, always something nice to say or they would say nothing at all. Real men with reserve and dignity. Are there American cyclists like this out there?

I don't know. Maybe I'm old fashioned or just idealistic.
