Unfortunately, I have nothing to contribute to your specific question. Two things, however. (1) I doubt that a bike alarm will deter a professional thief -- they'd probably just disable the device. (2) Casual thieves are less likely to be able to break open high quality locks. Kryptonite offers a significant "insurance" (up to $5000) covering your bike (albeit not your possessions...). Seems to be a more cost effective alternative.
