Then they're also stopping a few dozen from coming in, getting a meal and leaving. Might as well leave the doors locked all day if that's what they're working to prevent. Except around test time, they might have 2-3 people studying between 10PM and 3AM, but a lot coming by to eat.

At test time, I'd still estimate about 75% of the people are getting more than just a drink, and some seem to graze the whole time, ordering fries or fancy coffee every 45-90 minutes.
