Pedelecs are bicycles augmented by electric motors where you MUST pedal to make them work.
E-bikes can be pedal assist, but can also operate 100% on electric power ALONE with no pedaling needed.
In the US, the term "eBike" has become the generic name chosen by manufacturers and marketing for any electrically assisted 'bicycle'. California legislation being adopted by other states further defines "eBike" into three types.
Fret if it pleases you, but the tide of innovation is rapidly rising.
