I'll send you a Pants Guard if you need. I'm with you generally on wearing pants not tights. This is actually mesh so it is very comfortable to wear.

Also, if you are interested, I've modified a Dahon to have a 17 to 96 Gear Inch range. Perhaps some angles like that for your Brompton.
