There's just something about Japanese touring bikes... clean lines & beautiful proportions; practical, functional features; reasonable pricing... Theirs is a hard package to beat. There are several others worth looking at, though; imho (almost) equally nice- Friend, Everest, Alps (made by Toei); there are couple of frames by Katakura Silk on my 'grail bikes' list-- along with the Toei Bluebird. An early '80s Bridgestone Euraisa (the 650A version, celeste blue with direct-mount center pulls) would be a lot of fun... Fwiw, Cherubim & Zunow also make/ made some beautiful touring frames.
