People spending $500 or less are generally noobs and noobs want gears and suspension. The people wanting rigid single speeds are generally advanced riders who want their rigid single speeds light and are willing to pay for it, plus they are niche bikes anyway and generally all steel or carbon so $$$$$. There isn't much of a market for cheap rigid single speeds is what I'm getting at. Bikesdirect is about the only place I can think of that has one.
