VDC first came into the picture at the peak of the track BMX craze. They were highly active during the transition to freestyle/street/park. The company still makes framesets in the USA, which counts for something in an age when bikes with the once-coveted marks "Schwinn", "GT", "Mongoose" and "Diamond Back" are generally mass-produced (badly) in China.

My personal opinion (given what I know of Vernon Dixon and the history of his company) is that the Gorila is highly collectible, though not to the ridiculous degree that SE Racing and Kuwahara bikes currently are. They don't need to be babied. I'd get one if I were into collecting BMX bikes, particularly if the price was right.
