To finish this story, I took the bike to my local bike shop with photos in hand. They emailed them to Trek and I was given the choice of a new frame and fork or a $669.00 credit. I paid $740 for the bike in 1995.
I took the credit towards a Trek 5000. Now I have all the components off the Trek 1220 and am trying to decide if I should sell them or build up a new bike. There have been similar frames on eBay in the $50.00 range, but what would I do with another bike**********? (I know exactly what I would do with another bike, but my wife was looking over my shoulder while I was typing)
