Hello from ATL

I am new again. To biking. It was my favorite thing even I was young, then I got away from it, went back to it in my early thirties some and am back to it again. I like no suspension on the road and front only on trails.

My goal here, initially, is to create my bike. I know this sounds silly but I'm not competitive nor trendy. I qjust want to do everything to a bike that I can to make it mine.
So I'm focusing on two entry level bikes.
Speacilized hard rock early 90's I think
scott tampico. 2005 version
So my plan is to make the speacialized my commute bike and the Scott my light trail bike.

My first mechanical experiment will be to remove the friction shifts from the speacialized cause they are cumbersome. I'm going to see if I can get the shifters from the Scott to work on it. ComuCom means money and that's first.

Side note: not only has the tech advanced so far since I rode last, but the rip off as well. I got took on both bikes from ignorance and being enthralled with all the shiney stuff I didn't know. Anyway. LearnL learned. I'm about to strip both bikes down. Nice to meet y'all!
