I've ridden one around the parking lot of a bike shop. I'd probably have to rent one for a day to really find out the difference. The one I went to this weekend charges $100 per day, which seems steep unless I was sure I wanted to buy a bike from them. I think I got my hybrid on sale for $200.
But maybe that's the thing to do.
