Had a few unusual happenings on while riding on the local rails-to-trails route:

First, I had saw a red flasher way up ahead and noticed that I seemed to be catching up quickly. As I got closer, I realised that the reason for my fast catch-up was that the red flasher was on the front of a bike approaching me from the opposite direction. After he had passed, I looked behind and saw what I was expecting - white flasher in the rear.

Second, I was passed by another cyclist that called out "on your left" as she went by. The thing was that she was going the opposite direction. There was no one else in the vicinity so I was a bit perplexed. Is this something that riders do? Why?

Finally, lot of mushrooms popping up on the side of the trail due to all the wet weather. The sight of these kept bringing disturbing imagery into my head related to the current news about a particular mushroom shaped object.
