When you arrive in France, both Michelin and I.G.N. (Institut Geographique National) maps are readily available and are both great for cycling. The Michelin 1:150,000 maps show bike paths. Most shops which sell newspapers or books carry these maps. Michelin also has regional maps for Spain, but the scale (1:400,000) isn't as good as their maps for France. I found them to be quite acceptable when I was touring in northern Spain, however. Touring Club Italiano publishes excellent 1:200,000 maps for Italy. Michelin also publishes maps for at least the northern half of Italy, but with a scale of 1:400,000.
