I think you are right......I installed on the new bike an old SigmaSport I had lying around; I had put in the wrong wheel circumference number so even though it was set to read in miles, it was giving me kilometers. As a result it was telling me I was 1.6 times as fantastic as I actually am.
Imagine how comprehensively I could screw up a more complex device, eh?
